2013 Savannah Urban Arts Festival

The Line Up 2013

The Line Up 2013

Good day #IBNation! I know things have been quiet around here but we’re about to (please forgive me) TURN UP!!! lol

I would first like to extend a tremendous amount of appreciation to my brother in Hip Hop arms, Mr. Al Pete, for assisting in establishing the connection I’m developing with Savannah via the Savannah Urban Arts Festival. Appreciation and gratitude is also to be extended to DaVena Jordan,Patrick Rogers and the staff of the festival who’ve been bringing an amazing urban arts experience to the Savannah area. Their hard work and passion does not go unnoticed.

On Saturday, April 27th, I’ve been selected among some very dope regional/national artists to contribute to one of this year’s musical components. If you’re in the area or just in need of a great road trip to Savannah come up, down or out to the Congress Street Social Club in beautiful downtown Savannah. Not to mention all of the other great events the festival has to offer leading up to a weekend of dope emcees and singers including some of my Duval partners in rhyme (The iGive, Mr. Al PeteĀ  & the lovely Miss MJ Baker).

While new faces are an asset to many an artist, it would be great to see some familiar faces…that always seems to bring a special energy to the experience! SEE YOU ALL THERE!

MORE DETAILS TO COME!!!!

thoughts for sandy hook

most times i marvel at how much ease of access most public schools have to the general public. but that shouldn’t be in the question now should it? there’s an underlying principle in the fiber of your being as an american, and i would really think as a human, that certain places like schools and churches and places of worship are, if not beacons of hope for society, at least to be respected/reverenced as safe havens. these are places where innocence is present at least in a vast majority. i would say i cant imagine what was going through the shooter’s mind but we all know the possibilities are endless and more than likely more common than one would think. it’s just that resulting to taking innocent lives is a decision we all agree, most agree, isn’t rational, reasonable, justifiable and in many ways inhumane. many conversations may begin; violence in the media, entertainment, gun control laws, parenting, economy….who knows. forbid this 20 year old (allegedly) man actually be a parent or relative to one of the children and this incident being the result of a minor discrepancy….or something race related….or even an ongoing issue that the administration had yet to look into. again, who knows. but these are the moments,. where although many may feel these are unrelated, i look to our society in general and how comfortable and desensitized we are to violence…from our music to our film to our video games, just plain old entertainment. but hey, capitalism will always win out won’t it. law and order and csi will have episodes to reflect this incident. gun sales may rise or be stifled. a politician may win an election off of their response or a pastor gain a bigger donation for their remarks this upcoming sunday, who knows. no matter what occurs in the days to follow sandy hook elementary, the offspring off columbine is still walking the roads of america like a truant student, looking to see what environment they can contaminate next.
